Fort Loudoun Lake - Electrofishing 2009

Sampling date: April 16 - 17, 2009
Species collected in survey (10 runs, 2.5 hrs total effort):

Black Crappie = 26
Largemouth Bass = 260
Smallmouth Bass = 13
White Crappie = 31

TWRA has seen an increasing trend in electrofishing catch rates for largemouth over the past 11 years. The average length and weight of largemouth collected were 11.9-inches and 1.2-pounds, respectively.

Smallmouth bass can be difficult to collect using our standardized, daytime electrofishing procedures and the catch rate was low in 2009. Only two of the smallmouth collected were greater than the 18-inch minimum length limit.

Both white and black crappie have become more numerous throughout the reservoir and anglers have been reporting very good catches during the past several years.
